MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA — July 9, 2026 — Color de Cambio proudly hosted a community outreach initiative that brought together eight volunteer barbers to provide more than 100 free haircuts to children, youth, and adults in need. The event was designed to restore confidence, promote dignity, and ensure that members of the community had access to a basic service that can make a meaningful difference in everyday life.

The initiative welcomed families from underserved neighborhoods throughout Medellín, offering professional haircuts at no cost while creating a welcoming environment centered on compassion, community, and service.

“Something as simple as a haircut can have a profound impact on a person’s confidence and self-esteem,” said Herschel E. Chalk III, Founder and Executive Director of Color de Cambio. “Whether it’s a child preparing to return to school, a young person attending an important event, or an adult preparing for a job interview, we believe everyone deserves to feel confident and valued. This event was about much more than haircuts—it was about restoring dignity and demonstrating that our community cares.”

Throughout the day, eight dedicated barbers generously donated their time, talent, and professional expertise, serving more than 100 individuals. Their willingness to give back exemplified the power of community collaboration and volunteerism.

The event also provided an opportunity for families to connect with Color de Cambio’s broader network of community programs focused on education, economic empowerment, sports, and community service. Volunteers and supporters worked alongside the barbers to ensure that every participant felt welcomed, respected, and encouraged.

“This initiative reflects the heart of our mission,” Chalk added. “Real change happens when people use their skills to serve others. We are incredibly grateful to every barber, volunteer, and community partner who helped make this day possible.”

The free haircut event is part of Color de Cambio’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities that strengthen individuals and communities. By addressing practical needs while fostering human connection, the organization continues to build programs that empower families and inspire lasting change.

Color de Cambio extends its sincere appreciation to the volunteer barbers, community partners, donors, and volunteers whose generosity transformed a simple act of service into a day of hope and encouragement for more than 100 members of the Medellín community.
