Color de Cambio is a non-profit organization bringing smiles to many Afro-Colombian faces via their yearly Christmas toy giveaways.
MEDELLÍN, Colombia – Sept. 14, 2021 – Christmas is all about love, joy, kindness, and giving. After a turbulent quarantine period Christmas was a particularly great opportunity to support those in even greater need, like the most marginalized Afro-Colombian communities. Whether it was a child who needed a gift this past holiday season or making lasting memories for families, Color de Cambio was there to help everyone.
Color de Cambio has been sharing love and kindness to the most vulnerable Afro-Colombian neighborhoods for the past four years by distributing Christmas gifts for a good cause to those in need. This past year they helped the Decepaz neighborhood of Cali, Colombia, by giving gifts so they can experience the fullness and happiness of life. Gifts are always best and lovely to support a great cause when given with a pure heart. “There’s no need for the gifts to be luxurious; the gifts simply need to be given to the right person at the right time,” said Color de Cambio President Herschel Chalk. Together, with their donors in the United States, they have helped hundreds of Afro-Colombian families to enjoy the fun-filled festivities of Christmas. The program’s objective is to enable less privileged Afro-Colombians to share in the joy and blessing of Christmas by giving them tangible Christmas gifts of shoes, toys, clothing, and other in-kind presents.
Every Christmas, children worldwide close their eyes and hold their hands together and wait for a present. But unfortunately, for many Afro-Colombian children and their parents, this time of year may be stressful or simply go by unnoticed due to more pressing problems. Color de Cambio added a sparkle to the life of children through a toy giveaway (http://www.afrosunidos.org/) who might not otherwise receive a Christmas present. Many Afro-Colombian children live without the means to have their most basic needs met, much less receive a gift at holiday time. Through this toy giveaway, Color de Cambio has made a real, lasting difference to a child. The primary goal is to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to those less fortunate
Color de Cambio supported hundreds of Afro-Colombians facing hardship over the Christmas period, providing them with comfort, happiness, and hope for the future through valuable gifts. It would not have been achievable without the generosity of those who donated, raised funds, and volunteered their time and efforts at Color de Cambio.
